The game takes us to the near future, when a global power outage occurred in December, a week before New Year's 2030. In a single moment, the planet lost access to its most important resource, resulting in the disappearance of global communications, phone calls, and the internet. Collapse followed immediately: government systems collapsed, and society descended into chaos and looting. Weapons, food, and medicine became the primary items of barter. Conflicts and skirmishes raged for years as people struggled to survive in the harsh conditions of food and fuel shortages, fearing marauders and sudden climate changes. Survivors attempted to rebuild society from scratch according to their worldview: religious sects, bikers, mafia, raiders, idealistic democrats, and so on.
