Valor Mortis brings the Soulslike genre to a first-person perspective and sets it in early 19th-century Europe, where an unknown plague is sweeping across the continent following the Napoleonic Wars. This is the first original universe from Krakow-based studio One More Level, the creators of Ghostrunner.

A soldier raised from the grave

The protagonist, William, served in Napoleon's Grande Armée and died on the battlefield. One day, he awakens in his own grave and finds that Europe is no longer the same as it was when he fought. The plague is changing people beyond recognition, and William himself now harbors its destructive power. Napoleon is voiced in the game by Vincent Cassel. Project director Radosław Ratusznik says it was important for the studio to tell a story about soldiers at war, and that horror informs both the plot and the appearance of the monsters.

Sabre, Musket and Curse

Combat follows the genre's conventions: every action drains stamina, enemies hit hard, and victory depends on endurance and familiarity with enemy attacks. William wields Napoleonic-era weapons, but also utilizes the supernatural abilities granted to him by the plague. The studio directly applies its experience with Ghostrunner, so the first-person perspective isn't a passing fad, but the foundation of the entire mechanic. Journalists who played an early version compared it more to Dishonored than Dark Souls.

If you decide to download a torrent Valor Mortis (Valor Mortis), please note that the game is completely single-player and is designed for those who are not afraid of frequent deaths.

Features of the game

  • A first-person Soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner.

  • An alternative 19th century Europe engulfed by the plague.

  • William, the resurrected soldier of the Grand Army.

  • Napoleonic-era weapons with dark powers.

  • Napoleon with the voice of Vincent Cassel.

  • A fight where endurance and precise calculation are important.

pavel45iv, and a bunch of people also wrote about the raw project and that a lot needs to be finished just like that, I guess you should take pills if you thought the raw core in the demo was a game

pavel45iv, 1 comment from a mentally ill person who writes a masterpiece under every hat - this is certainly an argument, you'd better take iodine, they say it helps when your head is not right

fox.nemetsIt's a decent game. I didn't finish the demo, though, because after a while, I started getting kicked out of the game before the main boss. If you're a fan of Soulslikes about parrying, you'll love it.

And again a shitty sucker, I'm sick of these suckers, we've forgotten how to make normal games.
I play the game to relax and enjoy the game, and not burn my ass beating the same boss for the 500th time.

sproutI guess many people enjoy watching others suffer, not just suffering themselves. Suck-offs are quite popular with game streamers' subscribers, because it's fun to watch their favorite streamer struggle and struggle to beat a boss. And many watch and think, "Ha, what a loser this streamer is! I'll beat it on the first try," and they buy the game. So, the content is being developed, the money is being made — suck-offs will continue to be made.

sprout, Unlike you, I'm not burning here in the comments :joy: And I don't understand your indignation at all, there are hundreds of other good games on the site that you and I won't have enough time to complete in a lifetime, so relax and play what brings you pleasure and not a burning butt.

sprout, figures out of thin air... There aren't that many Solslikes of hype compared to "normal" ones of the same quality. And if you mean second-rate clones... then take any other genre, there's new crap coming out every other day.

Developers Valor Mortis The system requirements for PCs have been significantly reduced. The developers have reduced the minimum processor and graphics card requirements just before the official release, which takes place today, October 13, 2026.
The game's Steam page previously boasted some pretty powerful hardware. In June, when the final demo was released, the project required a processor like the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700. The minimum graphics card requested was an AMD Radeon RX 6700 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super. Now, the list includes the Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10600K, as well as older graphics cards like the RX 5600 XT or GTX 1660 Ti. Now, budget PC owners will have a much easier time venturing into the plague-ridden battlefields of Napoleonic Europe.

And that's great news. True, the required SSD space has increased slightly — from 50 to 60 gigabytes. However, there are a few important caveats. One More Level hasn't officially announced any reduction in requirements yet. The developers also haven't responded to journalists' inquiries. It's possible these specifications will change. However, updating Steam placeholders just hours before release would be a very strange decision.

Journalists tested the game on an older GTX 1070 graphics card. Even at 1080p and low graphics settings, the game still requires upscalers to achieve any smoothness. With the TSR upscaler enabled at 67%, the ancient Nvidia card delivered around 40-50 frames per second. In a challenging outdoor scene, the average frame rate was 41 frames per second. This isn't a bad result. However, during gameplay, the same stutters and sudden FPS drops as when testing the modern RTX 4060 for a full review still occurred. If you want a truly stable image, you'll definitely need more modern hardware with more video memory.
