Tome of the Damned is a dark, top-down roguelike in which a powerful mage pays the price for his thirst for forbidden knowledge. A failed experiment has transformed him into the undead and condemned him to exist among the ruins of the castle where his apprentices and allies once obeyed him. Now, these same people are willing to do anything to ensure the former dungeon master remains forever in his stone prison.
Death opens a new attempt
The path to the surface leads through fortified halls, dark corridors, and chambers filled with guards, knights, and battle mages. Each floor becomes a test of endurance and the ability to choose the right approach to enemies. Some enemies overwhelm with numbers, others force you to constantly move, and still others can destroy an unprepared hero in seconds.
Defeat doesn't end the escape. Having lost another body, the sorcerer finds a new vessel and continues onward. Five enchanted weapons, four grimoires, and ancient altars allow for a wide variety of combinations of abilities. One run transforms the mage into a destructive melee machine, another relies on deadly spells and spatial control.
