Artyom and the Sparta Rangers discover that the world beyond Moscow isn't as dead as was thought for decades. The squad sets off on the Aurora steam locomotive, crossing the country through the Volga River, the Caspian desert, and taiga forests — each region with its own climate, enemies, and way of life for the survivors. Between linear missions, there are spacious, semi-open areas to explore, where you can find resources, equipment, and stories from random survivors.

Survival without the right to make mistakes

A gas mask requires constant attention — the filters run out, and the lens fogs up at the most inopportune moments. Weapons and ammunition are crafted by hand on workbenches, and modifications allow you to tailor a weapon to a specific situation — from silent hunting to open combat. The cycle of day and night alters the behavior of mutants and humans, and moral decisions throughout the story influence the ending of the characters.

Enhanced Edition

The updated version has been completely redesigned for ray tracing: global illumination is calculated in real time instead of traditional pre-computed lightmaps, resulting in a fundamentally different look for shadows, reflections, and ambient light in the subway tunnels. Textures and physics have also been improved, making this a visually completely different game compared to the 2019 original.
