The story features an unfriendly artificial intelligence, SHODAN, who constantly tries to set traps for the player and blocks all their paths. Computer terminals also help you enter cyberspace, where you navigate in zero gravity, engaging in battle against enemies. Events have some impact; for example, the player can only open doors while in cyberspace. You are provided with a maximum of seven weapons, designed for combat with robots, cyborgs, and monsters.
