Eons of War – a space 4X strategy game from the small studio Vasinov Games, scheduled for release on Steam in 2019. The author said he was inspired by Risk, Civilization, and chess, and wanted to create a fast-paced strategy game without tedious micromanagement.
A million years per turn
The game's main feature is time. One turn equals a million years, so stars are born, age, and die right during battle. A star can explode as a supernova, become a black hole, a white dwarf, or crumble to dust, while asteroid fields deplete over time. Stars are procedurally generated and based on real-world physics: luminosity, mass, and energy output. This constantly changes the battlefield, and a plan that worked a hundred million years ago may no longer work.
Spheres and ring worlds
The economy is based on stellar energy, asteroid mining, and population growth. To develop it, megastructures are built: energy spheres around stars, resource harvesters, and ringworlds. Neighboring systems are connected by hyperspace tunnels, and only through these can one reach and capture other stars. The enemy builds their own tunnels, so the map of connections between systems changes as the game progresses. Capturing mysterious space stations opens up new avenues of research.
Campaign and Hotsit
The single-player campaign is procedurally generated and spans millions of years and dozens of stars. It also features battles against the computer and a hotseat mode: up to four players can take turns playing on a single computer.
