Cookies Must Die – a 2D action platformer with shooting from the Polish studio Rebel Twins, the creators of Dragon Hills and Daddy Was A Thief. The game was originally released on phones and won the Google Indie Games Festival 2020, before making its way to PC.
Agent Jack vs. Baking
The protagonist, Jack, works as a secret agent, and government scientists have given him special abilities. These powers will soon come in handy: the city is taken over by a gang of mutated cookies led by burly bosses. The plot is deliberately lighthearted, and the enemies are appropriately so: evil jelly cookies, creepy chocolates, and other sweets who have decided that humans don't belong here. Jack's task is simple: kill them all, even the most delicious ones.
Slow motion and bosses
Levels are completed on the run. Jack jumps, dodges, and shoots, while waves of enemies roll in one after another. The game's main trick is slow motion: at the right moment, everything around you almost freezes, allowing you to calmly target an enemy or dash between projectiles. The developers themselves compare this effect to "The Matrix." The controls are simple, but navigating difficult sections smoothly and avoiding losing health on bosses requires some practice. At the end of stages, large bosses await, and they put everything you've learned to the test.
Leveling up and records
As you progress through the game, you unlock new weapons, characters, and explosive power-ups, and your weapons can be upgraded. There are achievements and a leaderboard, so you can compare your scores with friends. The game is very lightweight on your computer, requiring only 4GB of memory and any graphics card with OpenGL 2.0. Cookies Must Die You can download it via torrent to even a very old PC.
