Wings of Glory – a turn-based tactics game about aerial combat during World War I from Dire Wolf, released on July 21, 2022. It's a digital version of the board game of the same name from the Italian publisher Ares Games, and the rules are almost identical to those found at the table: biplanes, covert maneuvers, and simultaneous moves.
Three blind maneuvers
The action takes place over Europe in 1917. Each round, you secretly select three maneuvers for your aircraft, your opponent does the same, and then everything is revealed simultaneously. The planes fly off along their chosen trajectories, and only then does it become clear whether you predicted the enemy's turn. If the enemy is within the firing arc, you can open fire. If not, a new round begins, and you have to guess again. The battle continues until one side is shot down.
The plane determines the maneuvers
The range of available maneuvers depends on the aircraft model, so different aircraft fly differently. As an aircraft takes damage, some of its capabilities are lost, and a damaged aircraft can no longer perform what it could at the start of the battle. In addition to aerial duels, there are special missions, such as bombing enemy trenches, where simply surviving is not enough; you also need to complete the mission objective.
Against the computer and people
You can play solo against the AI or online with other players, with online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer available. Those who played the original tabletop version will be familiar with the rules from the first turn. Reviews on Steam are very positive. Download the torrent.
