Dark in the truest sense of the word: darkness feeds the evil force. Light, on the other hand, weakens it, so the hero's weapon and protection will be a flashlight and other light sources. However, light only frees enemies from the dark force's tutelage, and to defeat them completely, firearms are essential.

At night, Alan Wake must explore eerie places, searching for Alice and answers to a multitude of questions. During the day, he can admire the town's scenery and interact with the locals, who will not only help solve the mysteries but also further complicate them.
