Beat The Game – a surreal musical adventure from Worm Animation, released on September 7, 2017. The main goal here is not to defeat enemies, but to collect sounds, which can then be used to create your own track.
Hunt for sounds
The hero finds himself in a strange desert where almost everything can make sound. The goal is to find objects and extract new sounds from them. Hit a soda can with a drumstick to create a cymbal sound. Meet a character in the far corner of the map, and they'll play a bass line. A scanner helps you search, revealing the location of the next sound. Each discovery unlocks an animated cutscene with a bit of story.
Sharobot and mixing console
For quick forays, there's Sharobot, a remote-controlled robot with a first-person camera. It's convenient for combing the desert without having to run around. An eight-channel holographic mixing console is always at hand: it combines collected sounds, adjusts volume, and adds effects. The mixer offers 24 playback options in total, unlocked as you progress. The developers recommend dimming the lights and turning up the volume.
Short and unusual
The game is short and closer in spirit to an art project than a typical quest: there are no enemies or battles, just a strange world and music. In 2016, it won the visual style award at the Intel Media Indie Exchange in San Francisco and was also nominated for music and sound awards at several festivals. The requirements are very modest, 4K is supported, and the download is free. Beat The Game You can use a torrent on any PC, even an old one.
