Adams Venture: Origins

Adams Venture: Origins – a puzzle adventure from the Dutch studio Vertigo Games, published by SOEDESCO, was released on April 1, 2016. It is a reimagining of the early episodes of the Adam's Venture series: the plot has been rewritten, the graphics and animation have been redesigned, and new mechanics have been added.

The Twenties and Ancient Secrets

The story takes place during the turbulent 1920s. Adam Venture, a young adventurer with a passion for archaeology, sets out with his assistant, Evelyn, in pursuit of ancient mysteries. The path leads through forgotten tombs, abandoned cities, and ruins that once held relics. The sinister Clairvaux Company, which is hunting for the same artifacts and spares no expense, is constantly hot on their heels. The plot draws on historical references, and as the game progresses, the heroes uncover the legends behind the objects they discover.

Puzzles and grappling hooks

The main focus here is on puzzles, most of which are built directly into the ancient structures: to progress, you need to understand how the mechanism left behind by the tomb's builders works. Puzzles are common, some challenging, and have been particularly praised in the press. Between them, Adam climbs walls and traverses chasms using a grappling hook. The camera is third-person, and the gameplay is linear, not open-world.

Remake for new players

The first episodes of Adam's Venture were released long before Origins, and this version is designed as an entry point into the series for those who haven't seen the previous installments.
