XCOM Chimera Squad

XCOM: Chimera Squad is a sequel to XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, or more accurately, its spin-off. The plot will build on the previous games, but won't be directly related to them — it will merely develop the new story.

Plot and gameplay

The events take place five years after the final scene of the previous game. The player assumes the role of the commander of a group of 11 fighters. Half of the fighters are human, and the other half are aliens.

While the gameplay is similar to the previous installment, it has received a number of significant updates. For example, players will be able to prepare before battle, a mixed turn order will be available, and killed soldiers can be replaced with autonomous androids. Robots are weaker in combat than living soldiers, but it's always better to replace an empty slot than to fight against numerically superior enemy forces.
