World War Toons — both the title and the debut trailer for this project hint at its cartoonish nature, and a fun cartoonish quality at that, allowing for hearty laughs at various amusing military situations. The project is being developed by Reload Studios. It's perhaps undeniable that the studio was founded by former Infinity Ward employees, who once worked diligently on the Call of Duty series. This gives us reason to hope that the project's military component will be executed to the highest standard.

As for realism and seriousness, in this case, the direction chosen is humorous. Virtual reality devices are making a steady, albeit slow, entrance into the world of video games, so the Reload team is striving to create something new, raising the bar for immersion and presence to the highest possible level. Of course, to appreciate this from the trailer, you'll need at least 3D glasses, and that feature isn't included. So for now, all we can do is wait for news about a release date or, perhaps, the launch of alpha or beta testing.
