D.E.C.A.Y. is a hardcore post-apocalyptic virtual reality shooter set many years after a nuclear war. The former United States has been transformed into a network of scorched sectors, where the remnants of human civilization persist amidst the ruins. You become the operator of the remote bunker "Object-16" and agree to spend a year in complete isolation. In exchange, you are promised freedom, but it can only be earned by surviving 365 days, maintaining the base's operations, and venturing into the deadly wasteland. A Year in the Wasteland
Inside the bunker, vital systems must be constantly monitored, equipment maintained, and supplies kept in working order. However, the real work begins outside the shelter. The surface is divided into hazardous sectors, where each new daily cycle can alter available resources and threat levels. The primary task is maintaining the network of Atlas installations that maintain the radiation and thermal shield over the region. If one node fails, the load is redistributed among adjacent installations, causing them to consume energy significantly faster.
A special search bot is provided for forays, capable of accompanying the operator and helping locate valuable objects. Its sensors allow it to locate dangerous rifts, conduct scans, and extract post-nuclear modifiers that may be useful for future survival. Some discoveries can significantly enhance the hero's abilities, but can have unpleasant consequences. Marauders, mutants, and Legacy fighters, including heavily armed "Judges," are also encountered on the surface, so each expedition requires preparation and caution.
