Flaregate Network is a sci-fi card roguelike that combines deck building with large-scale real-time space fleet battles. Players form a battle group, play cards during tactical pauses, and watch as their ships autonomously execute their orders. The composition of their deck determines whether the flagship will survive the next attack and whether the expedition can continue its journey.
Cards control the battle
The battle is divided into two parts: in the quiet phase, you can leisurely select cards, strengthen ships, or adjust tactics, and then the fleets engage in automatic firefights. This rhythm allows you to carefully consider each move without the distraction of constant control. You can create a versatile squadron or build an entire strategy around one particularly powerful combination.
The story campaign unfolds a grand space opera, while a separate roguelike mode offers chains of random missions and endless replayability. Losing the flagship ends the current expedition, so it's important to consider the damage types and defenses of your enemies. Explosive attacks are effective against larger ships, and lasers can penetrate shields and other defensive systems.
