Deserter is an isometric stealth RPG about a thief and deserter trying to survive in a grim city under total control. Instead of open firefights, you have to sneak through apartments, warehouses, and government buildings, pick locks, find alternate routes, and constantly keep an eye out for anyone who might hear something through the walls. The city lives under the control of the Party, but behind closed doors, fear, hunger, and the desire to escape at any cost have long simmered.
The city does not forgive mistakes
Any heist can easily go awry. One loud footstep, an accidentally opened door, or a forgotten witness can turn a carefully planned raid into a hasty escape through windows, rooftops, and dark alleys. The game particularly captures the feel of a grimy underground life, where you have to steal food, medicine, and tools not for riches, but simply to survive the day.
Freedom of play is felt in almost everything. You can become a pickpocket, a quiet burglar, a hacker, or someone who prefers to manipulate words rather than tools. The world constantly reacts to the player's actions: residents discuss what's happening, the streets change, and the city itself gradually reveals more and more of its corrupted systems.
