Fields of Gold – a small casual farming game by Thierry Braun and Tarek Wilkening, published by Spectral World on October 12, 2024. The farm is shown from above in bright, stylized 3D graphics, and the main enemies of the harvest are cheeky rabbits, against whom even dynamite is used.
From garden to factory
It all starts with a couple of small plots. The land needs to be plowed, planted with various crops, and harvested in a timely manner. The proceeds from sales are used to buy new fields, and the farm gradually spreads across the map. The next step is manufacturing: here, the harvested crops are converted into goods that are worth more than raw materials. Each new building and expansion adds to the complexity, so it's necessary to plan ahead, allocating resources between fields and production.
War with the Rabbits
Rabbits are constantly hunting crops, and if you don't protect the fields, some of your work will simply go to their dinner. Defenses range from simple fences to dynamite, and blowing up rodents is a perfectly normal farming practice. This detail gives the game its character: otherwise, it's a calm farm management game, but the rabbits don't let you relax.
Not to be confused with Fields of Mistria
The site also features Fields of Mistria, but it's a completely different game: there's life in a village, interaction with villagers, and a storyline, while here there are only fields, production, and the struggle for the harvest. Fields of Gold It costs a couple of dollars on Steam and is designed for one person. The character portraits and store art were created using a neural network.
