Edge of Sanity

Edge of Sanity – a 2D hand-drawn survival horror game based on the Cthulhu Mythos from Vixa Games and published by Daedalic Entertainment. Released on September 13, 2024, the game is set in Alaska during the Cold War.

A laboratory where no one was left

You're part of a supply team sent to assist scientists at a field station. There are no survivors, only monsters. The group scatters, and the hero survives and sets up a temporary camp. Now you need to figure out what happened here. You'll explore terrifying caves, abandoned mines, and secret laboratories, and at the center of the story is the mysterious organization PRISM and its experiments. Along the way, you encounter local cultists, and the lines between good and evil are quite blurred in the plot.

Madness as a resource

The game's main focus is on sanity. Unsettling encounters build up Madness, which leaves trauma that alters the characters' behavior and perceptions. Madness doesn't just work against you: it unlocks new dialogue options and allows you to craft special items. Food and supplies are constantly in short supply, so every foray requires careful planning. Combat is tactical: monsters have weaknesses, their senses can be dulled, and the environment is often more useful than weapons. An axe is reserved for emergencies, and it doesn't guarantee survival.

Survivors' camp

Between missions, you manage the camp. Survivors found are assigned tasks and sent on reconnaissance missions, while stations are built within the camp to provide food, water, and other resources. You also have to monitor the group's morale: stressed individuals can behave unpredictably. Your decisions determine which of the story's multiple endings will unfold.
