Dreamhouse: The Game

Dreamhouse: The Game – a home design, construction, and furnishing simulator from Spirit Games Studio. A Steam release date has not yet been announced. The work covers the entire process: from excavation and foundation to electrical outlets, pipes, and living room furniture.

Aspiring engineer

The player starts as a construction novice who dreams of owning their own home but lacks the money. To earn money, they must open a small business and take on orders. These come daily and are time-limited: sometimes they need to renovate an old building, sometimes clear a plot or dig a foundation pit, and sometimes they need to build an entire house, from a forest cabin to a luxurious villa. Taking on complex projects requires expertise in design, electrical engineering, and plumbing, so their skills grow as the business grows.

Assessment and errors

The completed project is checked by a computer. It looks at budget, deadlines, accuracy, and style: classic, modern, Scandinavian, and others. Shoddy work is not tolerated. Miscalculating the load or laying pipes crookedly will result in leaks, flooding, and even collapse. The developers explicitly state that destruction is intended as part of the learning process: failure makes it easier to pinpoint the error. Construction can be done in various locations: in the forest, in the city, in the countryside, on the beach.

Photo album and joint construction

You can take photos of your finished house, organize them into an album, or edit a video. The developers promise import and export of designs, printing of blueprints, and even uploading photos of furniture from the store into the game. In addition to single-player, the game also features co-op and competitive online play, leaderboards, a level editor, and VR support.
