Empire of Ember

Empire of Ember – a first-person fantasy RPG with strategy and city-building elements from Poleaxe Games. The game entered early access on March 31, 2021, and the full version was released on January 20, 2022. The events take place in the world of the studio's previous game, Ember.

Heir of the Battle Mage

You play as a battlemage whose master is murdered by a mysterious cult. The city is taken over by you, and now you must restore its prosperity and uncover who is behind the murder. The script was written by Patrick Kevin Day, former lead writer at Telltale Games. Decisions influence the story, and there are multiple endings. Maps and dungeons are randomly generated.

Sword, Staff and Army

In combat, you can wield weapons in both hands, fight with a staff, or shoot a bow. The environment also works to your advantage: enemies can be crushed, knocked down, or thrown back by explosions. There are three schools of magic, and spells include telekinetic boulder throwing, chain lightning, and raising the dead. Dodging, blocking, and interrupting attacks are just as important as damage. A special feature of the game is the ability to command armies of up to 100 fighters directly from a first-person perspective. In tactical mode, you can order shield walls, fire archers, or teleport behind enemy lines.

A city that can be destroyed

The city is built, decorated, and defended, and it is completely destructible. You place respawn points, towers, and resource-harvesting buildings, recruit and train troops, and research new unit types. You can also lay siege to other cities: catapults can breach defenses from afar, and walls can be breached. Players can trade their cities, download them, besiege them, and evaluate them.
