A parasite that gives strength

The story begins aboard an illithid ship: you are kidnapped and implanted in a brain parasite, which is designed to eventually transform the host into a mind flayer. But for some reason, the transformation doesn't occur, and instead, strange abilities awaken within. You can resist the corruption and turn the darkness against itself — or you can succumb to it and become the embodiment of absolute evil. This is a story of friendship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the seductive power of unlimited power.

Your own hero or a ready-made story

You can create a character from scratch, choosing a race and class from a wide range of D&D characters, or you can choose one of the "origin" heroes with their own detailed backstory. The companions you meet along the way are more than just fighters: each has their own goals, secrets, and attitudes toward your actions, and some are even open to romance. Decisions truly matter, and the same quest can be approached in completely different ways.

Turn-based combat using D&D rules

Battles are turn-based and based on the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop rules. Position, elevation, surroundings, and dice rolls are crucial: you can push an enemy off a cliff, set spilled oil on fire, or collapse a chandelier on them. You can play solo, carefully choosing your companions, or co-op with friends in a squad of up to four. Larian continues to support the game: major updates have added new subclasses, a photo mode, and a built-in mod manager.
