Coral & The Abyss – a dark, 2D pixel-art Metroidvania from Intrugli Games, released on April 22, 2025. The heroine, Coral, is one of the few who survived a failed attempt to colonize an unknown planet, and now she must figure out what happened.
Crystal Mountain Ruins
You must explore the Crystal Mountain mothership, now in ruins. Lights flicker, metal hums, and disturbing sounds echo everywhere. Local creatures roam the corridors — sticky black blobs with a single red eye. The ship's tiers are vertically interconnected, and you must navigate your way up and down: passages are hidden, and many areas are only accessible with new abilities.
No arrows or hints
There are no separate missions or markers on the map. Curiosity drives you forward: you explore compartments, find hidden clues, and piece together the expedition's past. Some discoveries reveal unexpected connections between events, and the picture gradually changes. The ship is full of hiding places and secrets, and it's unlikely you'll be able to fully explore it on your first visit.
Fights and bosses
Battles are fast and quite tough, with players comparing the difficulty to Souls games. Along the way, abilities and upgrades are unlocked that aid both combat and exploration. Bosses are unique, and each takes some getting used to. It's easy to confuse this game with ABYSS and Path of the Abyss on the website, but they are unrelated. The requirements are modest, and downloading is easy. Coral & The Abyss You can even use a torrent on an old machine on a PC.
