Bear With Me – a noir point-and-click detective game from Exordium Games, published by Miyagi Games. The story was released in three episodes, the first of which appeared in August 2016. A girl named Amber and her teddy bear, a former detective, search for their missing brother in the gloomy Paper Town.
Amber and Ted I. Bear
Amber wakes up one night after a nightmare and realizes her brother Flint is missing. She doesn't go looking for him alone: she calls on Ted E. Bear, a stuffed animal and a grumpy retired detective, for help. Ted speaks like a character from an old detective movie, snarking and snapping, yet still getting down to business. Their dialogue forms the basis of much of the game: puns, sarcasm, and dark humor. In certain scenes, you can even control the bear himself.
Paper Town and the Red Man
The search leads to Papertown, where the residents are clearly afraid of something. Amber and Ted examine crime scenes, collect evidence, and interrogate witnesses and suspects. Meanwhile, the mysterious Red Man, who for some reason is searching for Amber herself, sets fire after fire. The childish premise of a girl and a toy quickly takes a dark turn, and the further it progresses, the more the story leans toward horror. The graphics are two-dimensional, hand-drawn, almost entirely in black and white, with only a few bright details standing out.
Riddles without unnecessary searching
The gameplay is classic for quests: exploring locations, collecting and combining items, and solving puzzles. To avoid spending hours hovering the cursor around the screen, there's a hint system that shows active objects. The game has a separate prequel. Bear With Me: The Lost Robots, it's also on the website, but the main story is told here.
