Ships At Sea

Ships At Sea – a naval simulator from Norwegian Misc Games, released in early access on May 23, 2024. Previously, the studio created single-player fishing simulators Fishing: Barents Sea and Fishing: North Atlantic, but this is the first time that full co-op has been introduced, and the game features more than just fishing.

Lofoten to scale

The game's world is based on the Lofoten archipelago in the Norwegian Sea, with an open map measuring 46 by 46 kilometers. Ports, harbors, and islands can be explored on foot or by boat. The weather changes automatically: storms, fog, rain, and varying swells, so it's worth checking the forecast before heading out to sea. Northern Lights and rainbows are also possible, and the weather can be manually adjusted if desired. Water is powered by NVIDIA WaveWorks, ships have their own buoyancy physics, and the game itself is powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Thirteen courts and a lot of work

There are 13 boats and ships under management, divided into classes, with new classes unlocked as the crew advances in their career. Fish are caught using jigging, longlines, and nets, then processed and sold at fluctuating market prices. Besides fishing, there are cargo runs, crane operations, assistance with fish farms, repair of lighthouses and navigational aids, towing, firefighting, and vessel rescue. The first vessel of the fourth class services offshore wind turbines. The ship is navigable, and the bridge is equipped with sonar, radar, autopilot, radio, and engine controls.

Your own company

You can play solo, duo, or in a larger team: up to 8 players per session via direct connection and up to 16 on dedicated servers. Players form companies, share resources, and work on a single vessel or deploy a fleet for different missions. Shipyards and dry docks are used to purchase, repair, and upgrade ships.
