Professional Ship Simulator – a serious maritime simulator from SWE Systems, published by Aerosoft, in early access since September 16, 2026. The ship behaves like a real one, with weight and inertia, and in the career you rise from a small port operator to a professional captain.
Nine types of ships
The fleet includes a tugboat, a fishing trawler, a salvage vessel, a seagoing vessel, a yacht, a container ship, a bulk carrier, a gas carrier, and a cruise liner. Each behaves differently, and there are no simple simplifications. Physics takes into account propeller torque, heeling, wind and current drift, anchor action, and mooring line tension. The hull can be breached and begin to take on water, and on larger vessels, mooring controls are located on the bridge wings. Onboard systems must also be monitored: power generation and distribution, radar with AIS, sonar, and radio communications.
Rügen and Pas-de-Calais
The game currently features two large regions built using geographic data: the island of Rügen, measuring 60 by 120 kilometers, and the Strait of Pas-de-Calais, 140 by 140 kilometers. There are over forty harbors with real navigation marks and lights. The weather is updated in real time: storm fronts move, fog, rain, and snow interfere with navigation, waves break, and tidal currents operate. Computer-controlled vessels navigate the shipping lanes and harbors.
The captain's job
Through step-by-step tutorials and missions, you earn credits, obtain licenses, and expand your fleet. Jobs range from cargo transportation, ferry operations, sonar fishing, towing, buoy maintenance, rescue operations, and firefighting. You can also simply sail around the open world. The developers plan to maintain Early Access until approximately mid-2027, promising new ships, missions, and mod support.
