Garbage Truck Simulator

Garbage Truck Simulator – a small garbage truck simulator from independent developer Darius Bode, released on February 9, 2023. The focus isn't the driving, but the compactor itself: garbage is loaded into the compactor and crushed until it's just debris, with the physics of destruction calculated on the fly.

Four garbage trucks

There are four vehicles in the garage: a 2R, a Vulture, a Shark, and a Sideloader. They differ in sound and compactor design, so each one compacts trash differently. You drive from stop to stop, collecting piles of junk along the route and loading them into the back of the truck. The work is simple and measured, and the game doesn't hide this: it's more about the calm process than complex controls.

Street collection and cleanup

The main mode is street scavenging. The environment is randomly generated, and the trash piles are different each time, so the route can be repeated over and over again. There are also cleanup missions: a doctor's office, a bar, and an apartment, where you need to clear everything out as quickly as possible. Results are posted to the Steam leaderboards, and you can compare your times with other players. Trash is divided into three categories: bulky, household, and recyclable.

Physics instead of blanks

There are almost three hundred items to collect. Destruction here works in real time: debris isn't pre-cut, but rather formed during compression, and soft objects are deformed under pressure. This physics underpins the entire game. The only thing it shares with Truck Simulator: WORLD and Food Truck Simulator is the truck.
