BeamNG.drive (Bimka) Beams New Generation smashes cars like no other game. German studio BeamNG built it around soft-body physics: each car is made up of hundreds of interconnected beams, and upon impact, they bend, tear, and break in real time. Hence the name, Beams New Generation, and among players, it has long been simply called "Beam."

Accident as a separate genre

In regular racing, a bumper dent appears according to a predetermined pattern. Here, the outcome of an accident depends on the speed, angle, and what the car hits. A semi-truck jackknifed on a turn, a sedan wrapped around a pole, or an SUV tumbling down a slope — all look different each time. The same physics apply even without collisions: the suspension absorbs every bump faithfully, and an overloaded pickup truck behaves completely differently than an empty one.

What to do besides crash tests

There are dozens of cars in the game, from compact hatchbacks and sports cars to buses and trucks. The brands are fictitious, like Gavril, ETK, or Hirochi, but the prototypes are easily recognizable. Almost every detail can be customized in the settings, from the engine to the tires. There are also plenty of maps: the West Coast of the US, Italy, the deserts of Utah, and other locations that are perfect for driving. There are scenarios, a career mode with cargo transportation, and rally stages. Automation owners can import their own cars into the game.

A game that is constantly growing

BeamNG.drive launched on Steam in 2015 and has been regularly updated with new cars, maps, and graphics improvements ever since. The community has released thousands of mods featuring cars, maps, and entire modes, and the built-in editor allows you to create your own levels.
