The Night of the Rabbit is an adventure game with point-and-click gameplay. The events unfold in a grotesque fantasy world, where the protagonist spends most of their time exploring locations, collecting various items, interacting with locals, and solving numerous puzzles.

The game features a wealth of magic, which the protagonist, Jerry, learns as he progresses. He learns new spells to help him achieve his goals. One of his most important skills is conversing with inanimate objects, such as statues. From them, he can learn a wealth of useful information about events they witnessed.

The game follows the story of a twelve-year-old boy who dreams of mastering the art of magic. Toward the end of his summer vacation, the hero meets the Marquis de Hoto, who turns out to be a wizard and kindly agrees to take Jerry on as an apprentice. But he's no ordinary wizard, but a hominid rabbit, the size of an adult human. The Marquis lives in the Mouse Forest, where magic is both commonplace and deadly.

During his training, the protagonist will have to face the forces of evil, commanded by the Great Zaroff. The villains' goal is to tear the tapestry of the real world into pieces.
