Until We Die – a 2D base defense strategy game from Pixeye Games about defending a post-apocalyptic metro station, released on June 3, 2021. Meteorites have brought monsters to Earth, and the last humans are clinging to an underground station. Your goal is simple: survive for about thirty in-game days.
Ivan with a shovel
The main character, Ivan, is controlled directly. He runs around the station, fights mutants with a shovel, and gives orders to the other survivors. Without him, nothing happens: his charges show no initiative, and until Ivan says so, no one will build a wall or gather supplies. Therefore, most of the game consists of running between workers, fortifications, and the front. If Ivan dies, the game is over.
Generator and waves
The heart of the base is the power generator, and its loss also means defeat. Attacks escalate gradually: first, small flocks of creatures arrive, and finally, a massive horde of mutants descends upon the station. To survive, you need to build fortifications in advance and research technologies that allow you to build stronger defenses. Genre-wise, this is a mix of base defense and colony simulator: you have to build and fight simultaneously.
Forays outside the territory
Defense alone won't keep you fed. Survivors are sent on expeditions to the surface, and mutant lairs can be attacked to reclaim space for farms and tents. Food is obtained from mushrooms and anything that looks edible, and supplies are collected from crates. The graphics are pixelated, and the station and everything that happens on it are shown from the side. The game shares only the beginning of the name with Until Then. The game is undemanding; download the torrent. Until We Die on PC you can see it below.
Features of the game
The defense of the metro station lasted about thirty days.
