A story every fan knows

The story remains the same: humans, orcs, undead, and night elves fight for the future of Azeroth, and against this backdrop unfolds the destinies of heroes who will later become key figures in the Warcraft universe. Familiar locations like Stratholme, Dalaran, and Silvermoon have been updated to more closely resemble their World of Warcraft appearances, and certain scenes, such as Sylvanas Windrunner's death, have received more attention.

New graphics - and old ones too

All of the game's graphics were recreated, and the in-game cutscenes were updated. With Update 2.0, released for the series' 30th anniversary, Blizzard took things even further: they reworked the environments and lighting, updated the interface, and added the classic graphics of the original in HD. Now you can choose what you prefer — the new Reforged models or the familiar classic style, and customize them individually for different elements.

Map editor and online play

The map editor has also been redesigned, and the old custom maps from the classic version remain functional. The game is integrated into Battle.net for online matches, and updates continue to roll out: hotkey customization, APM, FPS, and ping display, redesigned leaderboards, and, in early 2026, matchmaking for 3v3 and 4v4 teams, along with balance changes. For fans of the series, music and portraits from the first two Warcraft games have been added.
