Sail and Sacrifice – an open-world pirate RPG from CAGE Studios, released on May 23, 2019. Developed in Unreal Engine by Gabriel and Salaar, the game puts you in the captain's seat of a pirate ship on a fictional 18th-century archipelago where pirates, native tribes, and the Spanish crown fight for control.
Three sides of one war
Three forces clash in the Archipelago. The pirates are led by the immortal Captain Warden. The Spanish follow Prince Burges, who believes he has a divine right to control the lives of others, and the Inquisition operates alongside him. The indigenous Kalinago people rely on their three gods and resist the pirates. You decide whose side you choose, and your choice changes the plot and the characters' attitudes. How the war for the Archipelago ends also depends on you.
Ship and crew
You can recruit pirates, natives, and Spaniards to your crew. You appoint one of them as your first mate, and you determine the share of the spoils for each crew member. Battles take place both at sea and on land: the crew fights alongside the captain, and respect is earned by sinking ships and defeating enemies. The treasures you recover are used to purchase new ships and various weapons.
Twenty-five islands
There are twenty-five islands in the Archipelago, and the developers promise more than twenty-five hours of gameplay. The coastlines and mountains are home to buildings representing three cultures: tribal villages, pirate settlements, and Spanish architecture. The ancient temples of the natives house powerful artifacts, while the Spanish royal palace boasts a menagerie, Renaissance paintings, and fine wine. Taverns serve rum and sing sea songs, and after a few too many, the hero can pass out. There's plenty of violence and bloodshed.
