Mad King Redemption is a pixelated beat'em up with a roguelite structure, where brawls in the style of old arcade games gradually evolve into a protracted war against a mad king. After attempting to resurrect the queen with forbidden magic, the ruler completely loses his mind and plunges the entire kingdom into chaos. The player must assemble a brotherhood of heroes, fight their way through the contaminated lands, and, step by step, reach the throne.
Blows decide everything
Combat is heavily influenced by old-school combat: chains of attacks, precise timing, and an aggressive pace are more important than endless special effects. At the same time, the game constantly changes the rhythm with random artifacts, new attacks, and run modifiers. One run can devolve into brutal close combat with counterattacks, while another can devolve into frantic ability spamming, dealing massive damage to crowds of enemies.
Each hero feels unique. Each has their own fighting style, characteristics, and personal reasons for participating in this story. Death ends the run, but progress remains: new fighters, moves, and artifacts are unlocked. The Mad King himself becomes the center of the entire system — as long as the party is alive, damage inflicted on them is retained, but if everyone dies, the hunt must begin anew.
