Toad's Soul Hopper is an arcade precision platformer where the entire gameplay revolves around jumping and controlling it. You control a character who doesn't run or fight, but literally leaps upward, propelling themselves off platforms using a strange machine. Miscalculate the angle or force, and you plummet and lose your progress. The game quickly makes it clear: it's not reaction time that matters here, but timing and distance.
One jump solves everything
Every move needs to be thought through in advance. You charge your jump, adjust the angle, and only then release — and at that point, nothing can be done. If you hit the target, you rise higher. If you miss, you catch on the edge or fall, sometimes very far. Because of this, every advance feels earned, not simply "completed."
The level doesn't let you relax: platforms collapse, some surfaces burn, others force you to act faster. You have to memorize areas, choose your approach carefully, and take your time when it's best to wait. Over time, you get a better feel for the game, but it still regularly tests your patience and precision.
