DreadOut Remastered Collection

DreadOut Remastered Collection – a remaster of two Indonesian horror games from Digital Happiness, released on May 14, 2025. The collection includes DreadOut and DreadOut: Keepers of the Dark, both updated and running from the same launcher.

Linda and the camera

In the first DreadOut, a group of schoolchildren are left behind on a field trip and wander into an old, abandoned town, seemingly frozen in a dream. Among them is high school student Linda, whom you play as. The town is haunted and hides its own dark secrets. While unarmed, Linda has a smartphone and a DSLR camera, and it is through the lens that she sees and exorcises spirits. As the story progresses, Linda develops unusual abilities that determine whether she and her friends will escape.

Keepers of the Dark

The second game in the collection is a standalone, filling in the missing chapter of the story. The mysterious Lady in Red transports Linda to the Looking Glass. From there, a portal leads to eight regions inhabited by more than 13 ghosts. The goal is simple: survive. What awaits you next depends on which door you open. Compared to the first game, the emphasis here is on encounters with ghosts rather than a lengthy story.

What the remaster changed

Both games have been ported to the latest version of Unity. Lighting and brightness have been reworked, textures have been sharpened, ambient occlusion, bloom, and SMAA anti-aliasing have been added, and cutscenes are now rendered in higher resolution. According to the developers, loading times are now three times faster. Camera aiming has been smoother, and some enemy behavior and bugs on modern computers have been fixed.
