Over the Hill grew out of a long journey. Funselektor studio founder Dune Keysu spent several years driving around North America in his camper, and he brought that feeling of silence in the middle of nowhere to the game. Instead of racing, it offers leisurely off-road rides, for solo or group play with up to four people.

No track and no stopwatch

Funselektor is known for Absolute Drift and Art of Rally, but this time the studio, which worked with Strelka Games, has moved away from motorsports. The goal isn't to finish first, but to get there. Off-road vehicles from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s crawl through mountains, valleys, and lakeshores, while the world around them changes with the time of day and the weather. You can encounter wild animals and take photos of them using photo mode. The graphics are executed in the recognizable minimalist style of Art of Rally.

Boards, a winch and ingenuity

There are almost no roads in the traditional sense. You have to throw planks across a crevice, a steep slope is negotiated with a winch, and a stuck vehicle can be pulled out with a rope. If you accelerate too hard, the SUV will quickly end up on its roof, so every challenging section requires some thought. In a co-op, such obstacles are tackled together, and the experience is completely different than a solo trip.

New places behind every hill

As you explore, portals to new areas open, and completing missions unlocks other cars, upgrades, and customization options. You can repaint and accessorize your car, and when you need a break, you can set up camp. More than half a million people have tried the demo, and the game has been wishlisted over a million times.
