Amnesia The Bunker

Amnesia The Bunker – a first-person horror game from Frictional Games, creators of SOMA and previous Amnesia games, released on June 6, 2023. Unlike the more linear Dark Descent and Rebirth, this one takes place in a semi-open bunker, where the same task can be solved in different ways, and events unfold slightly differently each time.

One cartridge and a flashlight with a dynamo

The game takes place in an abandoned bunker from World War I. The protagonist, French soldier Henri Clément, awakens with almost no equipment: a single bullet in his revolver. Light is provided by a hand-cranked flashlight, which makes a loud crackling noise every time you recharge it. And the noise in this game is more dangerous than the darkness. Supplies and tools must be found in corners or crafted. Objects can be picked up, thrown, and moved, and many problems are solved by physics rather than a ready-made solution.

Hunter in the Walls

A monster lives in the bunker, and it's always somewhere nearby. The creature hears footsteps and reacts to sounds, so running through the corridors quickly backfires. Hiding from it for long isn't an option, and killing it with a single-shot revolver is even more difficult. Time is also on your side: the generator needs to be refueled, otherwise the bunker will be left without power, and the hunter will become bolder. The location of many objects changes from playthrough to playthrough, so a memorized route won't save you.

New modes after release

The Halloween update added two modes to the game. "Psychotrauma" is designed as a hardcore challenge: health is more severe, saving requires fuel, and the revolver is hidden in one of the lockers. The customizable mode offers over thirty parameters, making it easy to tailor the difficulty to your needs. There's also a shooting range for practice.
