Changes:Updated to version 1.0.5 (Build 20268563).[Changelog]
Surviving the Abyss – a hardcore strategy game about a colony on the ocean floor from Rocket Flair Studios, published by Paradox Arc, the full version was released on November 5, 2024. It's 1976, the height of the Cold War, and you're tasked with building a deep-sea research facility where scientists will perfect human cloning.
Light means life
The main rule here is simple: darkness is dangerous, light is safe. The base is surrounded by darkness, and to expand, light pylons must be erected, pushing back the boundary of darkness. Something is hiding at the edge of darkness, and it's best to find out what it is with the lights on. If the power, life support, or light sources fail, the base will be catastrophic. Therefore, any project begins with the question of whether there is enough power to turn it on.
Oxygen, energy, food
The crew needs oxygen, energy, food, and everything else necessary for survival underwater. Construction materials must be sought and mined, and buildings and shafts must be connected with tunnels and power lines. The seabed is uneven, so construction must be done both horizontally and vertically. Research submarines and outposts are available for mining operations far from the base. The colonists must be kept alive, obedient, and sane, and important crew decisions are made through an event system.
Experiments on deep-sea creatures
Plants and animals adapted to the pressure and darkness live on the seafloor. They can be captured, and scientists conduct genetic experiments on them, advancing the station's main project. Research uncovers new technologies that make life easier for the colony. The game shares a similar name and publisher with the Paradox family with Surviving Mars, but instead of a Martian colony, it features a cramped station in total darkness and a much greater focus on survival.
