In 2013, the renowned Swedish company DICE announced the development of a new project in the Star Wars Battlefront series, and recently announced a December 2015 release date. The new game, the third in the series, will be a remake. Therefore, the title was not accompanied by any words or numbers. Star Wars Battlefront is being developed using DICE's own state-of-the-art engine, Frostbite 3. Gamers were able to experience its capabilities in the 2013 game Battlefield 4.

The new installment in the shooter series will tell another story from the Star Wars universe, with numerous locations designed to closely resemble those seen in the franchise's films.
